Job description

Emirates are currently undergoing the largest update to its Business Intelligence and Analytics framework in the history of the company. The Commercial department is leading this initiative, by systematically replacing many legacy systems with a new, state of the art infrastructure across its data warehouse and information infrastructure. To achieve the desired change, careful planning and execution is required across all aspects of our people, processes and systems to ensure that business adopts these solutions and that expected efficiencies and cost savings are achieved.

Under the direction of Manager Business Intelligence, this role will assume the operational management of all aspects of this program, helping drive successful outcomes for the project while maintaining the high standards of service business currently has within the existing infrastructure. This role will:
  • Ensure the successful delivery of all BI initiatives through detailed planning, oversight and communication of all aspects of the program.
  • Ensure the delivery of continuous value-add initiatives incrementally, while working simultaneously to deliver the long term change initiatives of the wider program.
  • Improve the current flow of information, and actions, through optimising the interactions of all engaged parties through various channels of communication.
  • Oversee the creation of financial and risk related reporting for the program, and ensure escalation and priority is given for all deviation from the expected plan.
  • Apply the most efficient project delivery methodology to each initiative, and align deliverables and resources to this methodology.

2. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES LINKED TO OBJECTIVE AREAS (MAXIMUM OF 10)1. Organise and prioritise all known BI initiatives, including activities required to successfully deliver these. Work with stakeholders including IT, vendor, business users and PMO
to ensure resourcing, sequencing and activities are detailed appropriately.
2. Develop and implement appropriate tracking mechanisms to measure status, risk, resources and financials for each initiative. Accountability for collating and presenting this
information to Working and Steering groups will be assumed by this role.
3. Develop the mechanism for effective engagement between business, IT and vendor to ensure all activity related to the program is being executed in a timely and efficient
manner.
4. Represent the Business Intelligence initiative on cross functional Project Management forums to identify and resolve all timing, scope and change issues which arise that have
a direct or indirect impact to the BI program.
5. Identify key change initiatives required to gain acceptance and adoption of the program, and plan for these activities to be executed in a timely and effective manner, including
acceptance testing, training, communications and adoption.
6. Identify and manage the demarcation of work between departments such as BICS, IT and vendor to ensure clear accountability for each deliverable is assigned, and ensure
execution of these activities is done in a timely manner.
7. Apply appropriate project management methodologies to each initiative, with a particular focus on migrating from standard waterfall methodology to a more iterative/agile
framework where warranted.
8. Represent the business in planning for critical activities with IT and vendor such as UAT, non-functional requirements, data governance and cutover/launch activities.
Qualifications & ExperienceQualifications:Degree or Honours (12 3 or equivalent) Graduate, preferably in a Business or IT discipline. Project Management certification is a must.

Experience: 8 years in an airline or analytics industry, related to project management or IT. Must possess broad understanding of airline fundamentals, project management methodologies, IT process and vendor management.

Knowledge/skills:· The individual should possess strong project management skills with proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Experience in Agile/Iterative methodologies
is favourable.
· Must possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the business, including external parties. The ability to negotiate and
influence is a must.
· Ability to multi-task and work across various departments with strict deadlines is critical. Good working knowledge of airline systems is essential.
· Knowledge of data and KPIs commonly used in airline industry, particularly as they relate to the commercial application of this information.
· Knowledge of data warehousing principles is essential.
· Knowledge of BI applications and design principles is essential.
